Job Description :

Functional Analyst


  • Translating business requirements into software requirements:

  • Clarifying business requirements by working with Product owner and project team

  • Facilitating requirements sessions/workshops with Product owner and project team

  • Documenting requirements (stories with acceptance criteria, flows, other documentation)

  • Getting agreement/signoff from project team members on requirements and scope

  • Working with developers and UX designers to verify solution meets business requirements

  • Working with Quality Assurance engineers to ensure tests are accurate and complete

  • Learning the Webtrition application in order to become a subject matter expert

  • Participating in review of defects found in sprint testing to classify as defects or new requirements

  • Third level software support:  Troubleshooting issues found by 2nd level support

  • Quality Assurance testing:  When time is short to meet deployment deadlines, assist QA team in manual functional testing of delivered code (infrequent)



Required Qualifications :


  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5 or more years’ experience in a systems analyst role, preferably on enterprise level projects


  • Analysis:  Proven experience in software requirements elicitation

  • Assertiveness:  Being proactive in organizing people and tasks in order to meet deadlines.  Ability to question whether certain functionality is a must have or not in order to control scope.

  • Critical thinking:  Thinking through problems and suggested solutions to identify strengths and weaknesses in the solution with an eye to future supportability and growth

  • Active listening:  Asking questions in order to ensure that what is being said is being fully understood

  • Time management:  Effectively managing time with minimal supervision, managing multiple priorities and ensuring assigned tasks are worked on in order of priority

  • Proactive communication:  Consistently keep management and team members advised on progress through effective communication

  •  Team-orientation with a desire to build positive, effective relationships

  • Knowledge of the English language:  Meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, grammar, ability to communicate effectively and be understood both verbally and in writing
