Job Description :

The position is responsible for providing clerical support to the ministerial staff and to present a positive image to those who contact the Church by phone or in person. The Secretary/Receptionist is also cross-trained as a backup for the Financial Secretary. The position works under the immediate supervision of the Associate Pastor.


 Receives, screens, directs incoming calls.

Greets Church members and the public.

 Prepares worship bulletin and orders of service.

Prepare bi-monthly Newsletters and send to congregants via MailChimp.

Email orders of service to interpreters.

Prepares Church worship slides in Power Point for announcements.

Prepare verbal announcements for Sunday morning, email to interpreters.

Maintains list of shut-ins and mails CD’s, bulletins, and newsletters.

Opens incoming mail and distributes to appropriate persons.

Takes messages and distributes to the correct person in a timely manner.

Greets all people who come into the Church office area, provides information, and directs appropriately.

Applies postage and mails correspondence.

Ensures all office equipment (copiers, postage machines, fax machine, folding machine, etc.) is working properly and calls for maintenance when needed.

 Updates website

 Post weekly bulletin and bi-monthly newsletter

Maintains and orders office supplies for church and ministerial staff.

Provides clerical support

Helps facilitate ministry needs for lay ministry teams (Raceway, Operation Christmas Child, Brotherhood, Women’s Ministry,etc.)



Weekly Financial Responsibilities

 Enter accounts payable invoices 

 Distribute/mail payment checks.

Help manage credit accounts.

Verify accuracy of invoices by comparing receipts and credits.



Cross trained to perform the following responsibilities when needed:

Enter attendance and giving records into computer system.

Verify the accuracy of Sunday offering deposits.

Scan offering checks into computer system.

Prepare and make bank deposits of receipts received during the week.

Maintain a record of the source of weekday receipts.

Financial projects as needed.



Required Qualifications :
 5 years of administrative support experience  

Experience working in a small office church office is a huge plus

Strong MS Suite experience 

basic accounting knowledge 

strong written and verbal communication skills
